The year in review:
Well it seems to be the time of year were everyone writes blogs about life changes and fun stuff… ups and downs, heart breaks and aches… the passing of times, the end of eras, changes in history… the thank yous, I love yous, and I miss yous…
This year started out… rocky for me, and it turned into something utterly amazing and wonderful! I set two goals this year, and I achieved both of them, and so much more. But more on that later.
As far as friendships go, what was a Holy Trinity last year of Jeri Dickey, Bruce Johnson, and Rustun Schack, turned into a holy quintet with the additions of Keebler and Steven/Alexis Stevens. Now yes, I know I've known Keebler just as long as Rustun, but this year I really was blessed and got to KNOW Keebler! And yes I know I've known Steven/Alexis for many years… but whatever! It's my story and I'm telling it the way that I want to.
For starters I want to get this part out of the way… The Universe/the Light/God… Jeri, Bruce, Rustun, Keebler, Alexis/Steven, Justin Monroe, Steve Alexander, Jeff Simpson, Ron, Micheal Rohrick, Ryan Lewis, Melissa and the staff at Professional Tattoo, Samantha Rollins, Rob, Nicole, Scott, Ray, Rajeesh, the Roy G Biv staff, Vee, Onyx, Julie, Marcella, Evonne, Sara, Trupti, Rachel, Jessica, Dorothy, Jill, Lisa, the staff and members of Lifetime Fitness, Sheila, Lee, Matt, Scott, the staff of EDP, Eric, Wayne, Joel, Ziv, Fern, Ricky Sinz, Jake Dekard, Kent Taylor, Scott Tanner, Chris Ward, Geof Teague, the staff at Raging Stallion… To Madonna, Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Robert Pattinson, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Prince… and many, many others... Thank you!
This year started out VERY interestingly to say the least! Importantly January opened up many doors for me as I began a new career chapter with Lifetime Fitness. Rachel, Dorothy, and Julie played an integral part of this new chapter and accomplishing a long time goal of being a certified fitness instructor. The journey, which is far from over, has been rewarding, exciting, and simply incredible! I have been blessed with so much by entering into a career in fitness.
The was an amazing shift that occurred this year at Axis night club when Alexis Stevens took over hosting the Friday night shows. As I began working with Alexis I realized that she, like myself, wanted to take those shows to a whole new level, and I was more than happy and willing to aid that. And we have SO MUCH MORE planned starting in January.
In the fall of 2008 I also had the distinct pleasure of traveling with Alexis, Vee Love, Bianca, Julia, and Stevena to San Antonio, Texas to help Alexis compete for the title of Miss Gay US of A at Large national. The trip was not only amazing, but I couldn't be more proud of what we did and how well we pulled it off!
Madonna released a new record, and with that came a new tour. I had the pleasure of traveling with Las Vegas with some of my best friends, Bruce, Rustun, and Keebler to see the Sticky and Sweet Tour in a whole new city for me! It was also Keebler's first time seeing Madonna and I know that he was impressed. Hopefully she gained a new life long fan!
At the beginning of the year I set two goals for myself. One of those goals was to work out, eat pretty clean, and by October try my hand at modeling. That goal came to fruition in August.
In May I was contacted by world renowned photographer Justin Monroe to be part of his, then upcoming, project a book titled "Down The Rabbit Hole". Timing didn't work out so well for that, but in August I flew for my first time to Los Angeles and not only was photographed by such a genius, but I also gained a dear friend! Meeting him and his boyfriend Stevey impacted my soul almost as much as being so blessed as to work with Justin has impacted my life. Justin helped me realize a dream, and I have since been blessed to work with other great photographers, but none will ever impact me as much as Justin Monroe.
In early December I was also blessed enough to be on the guest list at the LA release party for "Down The Rabbit Hole" where I got to meet some amazing people including models from the Janice Dickenson Modeling Agency, Jessica Rabbit, Cody Fallon, and a host of many other people who I can only hope that calling them fantastic does them justice!
There is more to come, but you will all get to see that in February when it happens for public consumption! I'm talking life changing people! So stay tuned!
This year wasn't without it's changes and losses. I moved into a fabulous apartment with my friend Bruce, I saw my friend Onyx move on to bigger and better in New York City, my uncle passed away, my car is dead… you can't have the ups without the downs! And I'm just as thankful for each trial and lesson and curse as I am for each blessing!
The hit list!
Jeri Dickey: We didn't spend NEARLY enough time together this year, and for that I am sorry. I love honor and cherish you and your family… Hell I now even have a piece of my BFF Jonny tattooed on my arm forever and ever. The crusade to fight CF has never been stronger in my heart, and know that as I prepare to move in 09 I, as long as you have a team for the CF walk, and when you decide to have Step Up 4 A Cure again I will be a part of that with you!
Bruce: And so here we are… a new chapter. What have we NOT been through so far! I'm so thankful that you are still in my life, that you are one of my best friends, and that I can still rely on you! Big changes happened this year and you were right there with me! And we did our third Madonna concert together! HOLY SHIT… that means you were with me every time I saw Madonna! I guess that that just means you'll have to keep going to see her with me!!!!!! More trips in the coming year… and lots of packing HA HA HA. I love and adore you!
Rustun: boy oh boy oh boy oh boy… Second Madonna concert with you young man! This also means you gotta go with me every time I see her! It's been an interesting year for us hasn't it? I've missed you and we certainly didn't spend a lot of time together this year, but hey… that happens. The extent to which you have impacted my life is indeed great, you know that already. Ups and downs and ins and outs and overs and unders and yet we are still friends! I love you and thank you for still being a part of my life!
